To quiet the belt noise during treadmill operation, a medical equipment manufacturer mounted the pulley at an angle. The pressure on the pulley caused the standard flange to dislodge and allowed the belt to slide off. Neuman redesigned the flange as a solid piece to accept the side load. The treadmill now runs smoothly and quietly.

When motorcycle manufacturers began replacing final drive chains with timing belts to decrease maintenance and quiet the operation, Neuman developed a manufacturing plan to provide a large-sized pulley with multiple features in a cost-effective manner.
